Hyptosis's News

I'm going to be stepping away from indie game dev for a while. I have two games that are half finished right now, I probably won't get them done. I'll try to knock them out in the next 30 days but most likely it's just not going to happen. It's been a blast, and a great experience. I've met so many kickass people, I have new friends now, a lot of new knowledge, and mostly fond memories. But things are changing and I just don't enjoy it anymore. The attitude of players seem more sour now than when I started, and I dunno if this is just me, or an actual change, but I don't even look forward to reading the player comments anymore. And I used to LIVE for that, even the bad comments. My last few games have flopped, my sponsors lost money on them, the players didn't like them, and honestly I didn't really even enjoy making the last couple because I knew the players wouldn't like them.

I'm not putting this on anyone besides myself, I just don't enjoy it anymore. And if I don't enjoy it, my products are going to be crap. I'll try to keep in touch when I can, and maybe I can set some time aside later in the year and do some more work. But I honestly just can't afford to do this anymore, both financially and inspiraitonally? If that is even a word.

I've had a new job offer, it isn't a job I like, but it is a job I can do. And it'll provide for me and my family in the future. But I won't be home anymore, I won't have time to be online, and I won't even be in the country (USA) half the time. So it isn't fair for me to claim I'll try to keep making games, when I know I won't be able to. I'd rather pleasantly surprise everyone than lie to them.

So thanks guys, and thanks NG, best online community I have EVER seen. So many great people. I can't even start to tell you guys how patient Tom and some of the staff here at NG has been with me. I came into this a few years ago, I didn't know how to do anything in flash at all, and I didn't know how to code. Tom answered every question I had when I know he had other shit to be doing. And Impendingriot spent hours getting me started on my own.

I'll still be around for a few weeks though, so I'll still be responding to emails and private messages and stuff until then. Thank you all so much, you've been great.

Hey guys! Last night I thought I'd sling together a sidescroller toolset for myself. Map transitions, functioning save, etc. After the huge distasters my previous sidescrollers are this just goes to show you I don't learn a damn thing from my mistakes and keep poking the snake, ignoring the rattle.

Here is it, just a single day worth the work, including the awful art. But the one thing I'd like everyone to test for me, is the save/load function, and if they detect any frame drops. There will be a slight drop when you save, that's expected, but there shouldn't be drops anywhere else. Please let me know what browser you're using too! Thanks!

Arrows and WASD controls the character. No weapons, no ducking, just running and jumping right now.

Here is some of my favorite stuff I've found here on NG! Please check it all out if you haven't seen it before, as it is awesome, like watchin' two toad poke on a log!

Super cool, I loved every bit of this thing. Figuring it out, the creepy stuff. Great idea.

Maybe not the longest, and not the best control. But the art is wicked cute!

I'm not usually crazy about runners, but the art here is super cool. The intro screen took me back to days of snes rpgs and Pilotwings!

I thought this was a coll little game. It isn't perfect but this kind of game is very hard to make. So many people are quick to judge, say some mean shit, and run off. Having never even tried to build a game on their own. Give this a chance, I enjoyed noodling around in it.

Next week I'll try to take more time and share more stuff, music and art too. Gotta run, so busy. ;_;

Hey everyone, thanks for the feedback on The Evening of the Son! I've ironed out all of the bugs so far I think! I appreciate the feedback, although I don't think some of it had to be so hateful. But alas, I've fixed the medals I believe, and the resource glitches. Let me know if you find anymore! And stay cool! Keep on creating things! ^_^

This is an expension to The Rose is Blooming, I tried to build on its shoulders and make a better version. If you have any ideas or comments, please leave them in the reviews! I read all of my reviews, every one of them! Love you guys!

I was curious if any of you guys are Wikia experts? A player of my games started a Wikia, and it's become quasi-official in that I try to check it once a week and fact check, etc. However he's suddenly very busy and doesn't have time to work on it and I certainly don't with three new games coming up. So I told him I'd see if anyone else was interested. I've started using the site to keep my own stories straight, it's a nice reference for my own material and organized a LOT better! :D

SO, is anyone following me interested in working on it? Most of the pages are locked down, however anyone can add new pages. The locked down ones are only editable by approved editors or something. I'm not real familiar with how Wikia works.

I'd like two or three people at most to moderate it, someone interested enough in my fantasy universe to add details and sort stuff out. They'll be given full access to the protected content too, and allowed to change anything to improve the Wikia.

The games I personally want added are Steelcurse, Runeseekers 1 and 2, Gearlock, the Hood series, Guild Dungeons 1 and 2, Relic, The Children of Brinn, the Spellsword Demo, Kingdom of Liars, Pact. Some of these games a bit old and might not run too well anymore, sadly. ;_;

All of these games take place in the same world, I'd love to have the detials straightened out more. If anyone is interested in this, please let me know! You can see the Wikia at the link below, and I'd be happy to answer any questions you might have.

http://lorestrome.wikia.com/wiki/Lorestrome_Wiki 99.9 percent of what is on the wikia now is correct info.

There is also a very good Alice is Dead wikia, but I don't have any ties to it. It has a lot of great details though!

http://aliceisdead.wikia.com/wiki/Alice_is_dead_Wiki

Details are what I'm mostly looking for, about areas, people, places, artifacts and objects. Things I can refer to or include in future games. Screenshots also help as I often have to redraw these objects or characters, and going back and playing through a game to find a single object can be a pain.

If you're interested in modding the Lorestrome Wikia, please let me know! And if you've run some Wikia before, or had an upper tier hand in working on them, I'd like to see that too! I personally don't know a thing about working on them, however I love having the unexpected resource available. I will try to find ways to include the mods in some of my future games, I can't afford to pay anyone now so this is a volunteer position and you can quit anytime, no hard feelings, etc. No pressure here. But I'll try to find a way to pay you guys back as I continue my projects into the next year.

Thanks either way, stay cool guys! ALSO, I'm a year older now! D: DRAT!

I've been working on a new game the past couple of days, called Starshroud. It is a space-themed rpg. I want to really invest in exploration and character interaction. I know these kinds of old school games aren't for everyone, and that's okay. I'm really enjoying working on it.

Here is a tiny snippet, this is VERY early, so don't judge too hard yet.

I'd love to know what you guys think though, what you might expect. Etc. Thanks guys! Stay gold.

his snow sure is fun. ALSO -- Hey guys, just thought I'd share this little bit from my newest game. This is a mockup actually, but it's going ot look pretty much like this. Stats and stuff will go on the left, action in the window, buttons below. I'm trying to keep it very simple, and make the buttons big for touch screens.

Officially announcing my next title will be a zombie themed survival game based on Where the Rose is Blooming, a previous game of mine.

2780361_138621091591_flash_609043.jpgClick to Play

I hope that it will be a good successor, I'm including everything, plus adding a lot more. And I'm going to try to introduce mini story trees, like Sagittarian. Also more supplies such as energy and water. It's quite an undertaking though, and is very exhausting! Hope you guys dig it.

I debated making the character lead in this one a woman, but after thinking about The Rose some more, I decided to actually make it the same character. Since this is a sequel, really a rebuilt and expanded version even, I thought it was only fitting.

2780361_138621079031_goon.png

Since a major complaint before was that the game was endless, my idea was that you see how long you can survive. This time there will be an ending, a goal to reach. No more endless survival.

Anyway, thanks, hope it will be done in the next few weeks. Let me know if you have any ideas or thoughts! I'll hear/read them all! Stay cool guys!

Second, thank you all SO MUCH for the support, best players ever! The donations given previously have gone a long way to help me get my big project rolling. It isn't done, but progress has seriously been made and I can't wait to reveal more. Also, I will hopefully have TWO more games coming out in the next 30 days, so look out for those guys!

Thanks again everyone! Stay cool Newgrounds!

Thanks guys! Also, new game!
