Self important Wolfsong news ahead! :P

I've been away for a bit, but I return with my personal baby's updates. Wolfsong! Here is some short footage of the newest zone, a mossy ruins area deep in the heart of a Oregon-like forest.

And some of you might have seen these already, but a few new images form the game! <3

A few rotten badguys the player will encounter on the road. I appreciate all the support and feedback I've been getting, it means the world to me. Thanks for looking, stay cool and keep creating things!

The current party in Wolfsong, about to leap into action!

Hey guys, wanted to share a screengrab of Burnside. He's connected to the ancient race some of you might remember from Hood? I'm pretty excited to introduce him, and all of the answers he will bring with him.

I am back to slaving away at Wolfsong, hope to get it done in the next few months. LadyArsenic has been writing some totally sweet music for the game while I was away working, and it turned out great in my humble, but always right, opinion! :P

I'm working on the final playable character in the game right now, as well as the quest that unlocks him. I wanted to have a few more, Jahti from Relic, Baldewin from Hood, Cameron too, a few Kingdom of Liars characters, etc, but because of lack of time and funding they'll have to wait for a sequel, there will likely be lots of cameos from previous projects though! ^_^

Here are a few of the latest foes the player must dispatch!

They are called Gooka, and are a nasty lot of spirit worshipers.

Thanks, I'll have more news soon!

I'm really really happy with the progress I've been making on Wolfsong. I know  it isn't going to be the kind of game that appeals to everyone. A lot of my players don't like SNES style rpgs, many of them follow be because of my adventure games or my point and click story games. So this is a bit of deviation from what is expected of me. That said, I'm overjoyed with how this game is turning out considering I've manage to build it with very little financial support. A lot of people have donated their time and hard work to the project though, and that means a lot. I won’t forget it. And to all the people who donated to me in the past, I’ve kept your numbers guys. You’ll be getting a copy of this bad boy first thing when it is done.

However some of my closest friends have expressed doubt in the project and even discouraged me to go on with it. Telling me it is a dead end, I’m wasting my time, or this isn’t the kind of work I’m known for and I shouldn’t be deviating. Some have told me it just flat out isn’t a very good game, and that hurts. But I’m trying to remedy that.

Truth is, I enjoy making games like this. I have never really done it before Relic. And even if it turns out that no one likes it, I still had fun making it. And I AM still having fun making it. I HOPE that my enthusiasm and hard work will shine through to those that do give the game a chance when it is done.

It is alarming to see how many hours I’ve put into the project already. I means, thousands and thousands of hours, and on top of that, the money I’ve put into it, and the time it took to earn that money. It’s staggering and I don’t like going back through my books and seeing it.

The game is about 25 to 30 percent finished. It isn’t too late to stop, but I feel like I’ve done too much already to quit. I’m having to take some contract work which will stop all progress on the game for about two months, once that contract is up I”ll be back and hopefully get it to that 50% mark.

A few people have suggested I do an early release or try the itch.io route. And maybe I should, I honestly don’t know. I know when I buy an early access game, I’m tired of it before it is actually ‘released’ and that seems very counter to a good launch. My kickstarter very much showed me that people aren’t THAT excited about the project though, that I’m making this game more for me than for anyone else I’m afraid. That isn’t a bad thing since I’m having fun doing it I’m not wasting my time even if it does fail horribly. -- If just a few players enjoy it, then it will still feel like a win to me anyway. ^_^

I don't want to get too excited or anything, but I think the first demo of Wolfsong is nearly finished! I can see the head! :D

It is still pretty limited, no voice acting, basic art in a few spots. But it is playable!
Should have some new videos and such of gameplay soon.

I'm just too excited, had to talk about it somewhere! :P

I have gotten a few confused messages from people. Wolfsong is NOT cancelled. I just was not able to get funding from Kickstarter. I will come up with funding on my own, it is just going to take longer before the game is finished. Wolfsong is NOT cancelled.

Hey everyone! I just wanted to say I'm switching gears with Wolfsong. It is evident right now that the kickstarter isn't going to make it. Running one has been a educating experience (and certainly a humbling one) and it is unlikely I would ever try it again. I can't regain the lost time I could have put towards the game, but I also don't have to feel crappy about never having tried kickstarter at all. I hate questioning regrets, so there is that.

I'm touched by everyone who tried to support me on the project, generous donations and lots of people trying to help me spread the word. That ALL means a lot to me. I mean, it REALLY means a lot to me. There is always a lot of negativity when doing something like this. I always try to remember the kind emails and messages you guys leave me, that keeps me going.

I need to take some time. I'll be taking some contract work so I will likely be away for a few more months. I'm going to try to save up a nest egg, and finish a minimal version of the game on my own. It'll be watered down, but at least it will be finished. I'm going to cut all of the voice work, it was my primary reason for trying to raise the money. I know most my voice actors and actresses would do the work for free, or promises of being paid later, etc, but I can't (and won't) ask anyone to do that. I've heard that crap my entire career as an artist. Maybe in the future I can patch the voices in, but even if they did the work for free, the time it takes to match the different samples up and all of that, I had that figured into the 20k budget as well. It's better to just leave it out for now if I expect to ever finish the product without funding.

Again, thank you all so much, I'm very touched. I'll try to keep everyone up to date on what my plans are for the game. I still want to finish it, I just don't know WHEN I can. Stay cool!
